Implants

Dental implants can improve your appearance and your oral health.

Dental implants are one of the best ways to replace missing teeth. They provide excellent strength and support, and closely mimic the functionality and beauty of a natural tooth. Missing tooth need to be replaced as soon as possible to prevent tooth drifting and bone loss. Dental implants come in two parts. The first part is the implant itself, which is a small cylinder made of titanium, this is implanted into the jawbone. Dental implant derives its strength and stability by osseointegration. Second is the dental crown. A full dental crown is fabricated and cemented over the top of the implant. Patients with dental implants can smile with confidence knowing that no one will ever suspect that they have a restoration. Dental implants are the perfect alternative to traditional dental bridges or cosmetic full or partial dentures.

Each implant uses a post made of a titanium alloy, a material that is biocompatible with most patients, even those with metal allergies. The implant restores both the top, visible portion of the tooth and the dental root.

Dental Implants: The Gold Standard

Dental implants have become the “gold standard” for replacing missing teeth because we are not compromising the adjacent tooth for support as we do in Bridges(FPD).

  • Implant consultation with our dentists
  • CT scan of your teeth, mouth and jaws
  • Creation of a surgical guide
  • Patient sedation and surgery procedure
  • Temporary restoration and healing period for soft tissue and bone
  • Final dental restoration

CT Scan

To help ensure patient comfort and safety, our office uses a 3D scanner to examine anatomical structures before your treatment. This imaging system will help our dentists place and anchor the implant post properly.

Surgical Guide

Once we create your treatment plan and decide on the position of the implant, our dentists will use an implant guide to help place the post. These guides are 3D printed and based on images from the CT scan for higher accuracy.

IV Sedation

To help prevent discomfort, our office offers several different forms of sedation, including oral sedation, laughing gas (nitrous oxide) and IV sedation. Speak with our dentists before your appointment to decide which will best work for you.

How Long Does an Implant Treatment Take?

Because treatment and healing times can vary, our dentists will outline your individual schedule during your free implant consultation. Usually, after an implant is initially placed, it will take around two to four months for the site to heal and a permanent crown to be placed.

What Is Recovery Like Following a Dental Implant Placement?

Your personal recovery will depend on several different factors. However, if you are still experiencing discomfort in the two to three weeks after your procedure, contact Dr.Sushma Dental at 7399669977. Also tell our dentists if you notice any unusual or changing symptoms.

  • Take an over-the-counter painkiller to counteract discomfort. Be sure to follow all dosage instructions and recommendations. However, let our dentists know if you still are experiencing pain.
  • To reduce swelling during the first 24 hours, place an icepack over the cheek.
  • Limit your diet to soft foods.
  • Be sure to sleep and rest after your appointment and avoid strenuous physical activity in the week following the procedure.

In order to truly complete your dental implant, you will receive an implant restoration. All-on-4 dental implant system

Dental implants offer a preferred way to replace a single tooth or some teeth. Placed in your jawbone, these titanium posts are connected to your new teeth. Implants act as anchors for new teeth. Since the implant permanently fuses to surrounding bone, the teeth are anchored firmly in place. Poor fitting or loose restorations are avoided, and the strength and volume of supportive bone is maintained.

While dental implants are lauded as a realistic way to replicate the appearance and function of natural, healthy teeth, placing a single implant for every missing tooth is not practical should you have few to no teeth. This is where the All-on-4 system gives hope to toothless or near-toothless patients.

This innovative system makes use of the basic principles of implants, yet All-on-4 strategically places a minimum number of implants in the jawbone. By precisely placing them in the areas of the mouth where they can have maximum effect, you get optimal support for many teeth in as little as 4 implants per upper or lower jaw. By using a minimum number of implants for maximum effect, the cost of the procedure is significantly reduced. Since you don’t need one implant to support every tooth, the time and energy associated with surgically placing many implants is also avoided.
